propriedade que faz com o líquido se comporte como se tivesse uma
membrana elástica em sua superfície. Este fenômeno pode ser observado em
quase todos os líquidos, e é o responsável pela forma esférica de gotas
ou bolhas do líquido.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> A razão é que as moléculas de água
interagem muito mais fortemente com suas vizinhas do que com as
moléculas do ar, na interface. As moléculas que estão no interior da
gota, por exemplo, interagem com outras moléculas em todas as direções;
as moléculas da superfície, por outro lado, interagem somente com
moléculas que estão nas suas laterais ou logo abaixo.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Este “desbalanço” de forças
intermoleculares faz com que estas moléculas, da superfície, sejam
atraídas para o interior do líquido. Para se remover estas moléculas da
superfície é necessário uma certa quantidade mínima de energia - a
tensão superficial.</li>

<li style="text-align: justify;"> Agora, cientistas da Universidade de Delft, Holanda, deram um
passo adicional e conseguiram "filmar" o movimento coletivo de átomos de
ouro sobre uma superfície. A base de seu novo equipamento é um
microscópio do tipo HREM ("High Resolution Electron Microscope":
microscópio eletrônico de alta resolução). Como em todas as pesquisas
desse tipo - e o que explica o nascimento do novo campo dos
nano-microscópios - os cientistas referem-se ao seu sistema de
imageamento como um "microscópio eletrônico modificado".</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> O experimento foi feito colocando-se alguns átomos de ouro sobre
uma superfíce sólida também de ouro. O grupo de átomos formou uma
superfície de deslocamento, uma linha extra de átomos sobre a
superfície. A seguir, eles se moveram coletivamente e simplesmente
"afundaram" na camada de átomos da parte sólida.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Além do funcionamento do próprio nano-microscópio, a experiência
mostrou aos cientistas um mecanismo que poderá ser uma forma eficiente
de se transportar átomos, levando-os da superfície até as camadas
superiores e até interiores de outros materiais.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> A teoria prevê que, para "mergulhar" no interior de um material,
um átomo deverá primeiro enfrentar uma barreira energética. O tipo de
transporte por superfície de deslocamento não apresenta essa barreira,
facilitando o funcionamento do novo mecanismo de transporte.</li>
<li> O novo nano-microscópio por enquanto só funciona nas condições
muito controladas do laboratório. Mas os cientistas acreditam poder
dar-lhe a robustez necessária para que ele chegue ao mercado nos
próximos cinco anos.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Então, com a nano-microscopia espalhando-se pelos demais
laboratórios, será possível acompanhar os processos biológicos em tempo
real. Outro exemplo de sua utilização está na pesquisa de catalisadores,
já que as reações químicas poderão ser acompanhadas passo-a-passo.</li>

O tipo de ligação química, além de definir as temperaturas de fusão e
ebulição das substâncias, também influi em outras propriedades. Uma

<span style="color: red;"><b>CONCLUSÕES</b></span><br />
<ul style="color: black;">
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Uma interação dipolo permanente – dipolo permanente, por exemplo,
tem em média apenas 1% da intensidade de um ligação covalente.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> No entanto, é das forças intermoleculares que dependem propriedades como PF, PE densidade.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> A intensidade dessas forças depende de dois fatores principais:</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> A polaridade da molécula – quanto mais polarizada a molécula, maior a força intermolecular e, consequentemente, maior o PE;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> O número de elétrons da molécula – quanto mais elétrons tiver a
molécula, mais facilmente deformável ela será e mais intensas serão suas
interações com as moléculas vizinhas.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Moléculas polares e apolares associam-se por meio das forças de Van der Waals.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> Em alguns casos, a temperatura de ebulição contraria as previsões.
Isso ocorre nas moléculas em que átomos de hidrogênio estão diretamente
ligados a átomos muito eletronegativos de flúor, oxigênio e de
nitrogênio. Essas ligações de hidrogênio, cujas moléculas possuem
conexões muito fortes, são responsáveis por PE elevados.</li>
